Capital Referendum Project Updates
Each month, we will provide an update on the design and construction process for projects funded by the voter-approved April 2025 capital referendum.

Whitewater High School
• Concrete foundations for the kitchen addition.
• Excavation and rock removal have been ongoing for the Tech Ed additions.
• Masonry restoration has begun.
• Renovated mechanical unit removals.
Whitewater Middle School
• Civil site work for the new bus loop.
• Selective electrical rough-ins/piping for new panels.

Core Planning Team meetings continue every other week, recent items covered included:
• Review of interior finishes
• Integration of technology education equipment into the spaces
• Continued discussion of auditorium scope prioritization
• User group meetings were held to discuss specific needs for each of the Tech. Ed spaces. These meetings will continue as we work through some of the final details and specialized needs for the programs.
City of Whitewater Zoning was approved for Washington Elementary.

Recently Completed:
• Core Planning Team meetings continue every other week, recent items covered included:
• Review of updated kitchen/serving layout
• Discussions for school store, café, and concessions area layout
• Goals for merchandise display and groups that will be using the spaces
• Updated layout of Technical Education spaces included door/ window locations and goals for equipment positioning
• Continued discussion of auditorium scope prioritization
Upcoming Milestones:
• Board of Education update
• Zoning meeting for Washington Elementary
• Update from civil, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical engineers

Recently Completed:
• Regular project planning meetings are held every two weeks – WUSD, Building Solutions (Owners Rep), Bray Architects, and JP Cullen. Some key topics discussed include:
• Preliminary meeting with the kitchen consultant to discuss the specific design goals for the kitchen and serving area.
• Discussion of the capital maintenance scope of work for all district buildings.
• Review of initial exterior views of the Tech. Ed. addition and
• Kitchen addition. The design goal will be to match the brick of the existing building and the horizontal “banding.”
• Review of notes from Tech. Ed. staff and implemented suggestions into the drawings.
• Review of design options for the auditorium based on district prioritization of need.
• Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC engineers met with WUSD and project team to discuss system designs and preliminary project goals.
Upcoming Milestones:
• August 5 - The district will have registration at the High School for district families. Informational boards displaying progress drawings will be set up to review.
• Late August/Early September - Community/ Industry partner meetings will be held in to gain feedback on the progress drawings.

In Progress:
• WUSD, Building Solutions (owners Rep), Bray Architects, and JP Cullen are meeting every two weeks to conduct project planning and work through the design process.
• WUSD hired JP Cullen to provide construction management services for the project. The JP Cullen team will get up to speed on the project to review and develop the project budgets, schedule, and site logistics.
Upcoming Milestones:
• June 26 – Meeting with the City of Whitewater to preliminarily discuss the project and understand anticipated submittal processes
• July 1 – Kickoff meeting with WUSD staff and kitchen design consultant to discuss detailed kitchen layout and equipment needs
• July 1 & July 18 – Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC engineers to meet with WUSD and the project team to discuss system designs
